06/15/2024: Four-month update!

I laid down next to Taara in her bed this evening and read about why Uranus is the coldest planet, even though Neptune is farther from our Sun. Minutes before sitting in my bed to write this post, I took my contacts off, undid my ponytail, and brushed with my electric toothbrush. Before that, I drove to four different friends' homes to return their food containers they thoughtfully filled with yummy food and delivered to my family last month. Earlier in the day, my mom massaged my scalp with coconut oil, comparing today's scar status with yesterday's in the process. I did not need to ask my dad to lower the TV volume at all today (he watches TV with ridiculously high volume)

Four months ago, none of the seemingly mundane activities I described above would have been worth another thought, let alone warrant a blog post here. From the initial diagnosis (Feb 15th) to surgery (April 30th) to today (June 15th), what a rollercoaster it has been!

I am able to sleep OK even when my head is not propped up! I started wearing my contacts again! I am able to put my hair in a ponytail and not scream in pain! I no longer get intense headaches from the sounds the electric toothbrushes make (or just about any sounds for that matter)! I am driving again! Most importantly, my parents know all about my surgery and recovery now! Things have become as normal as can be, right around the 6th week post op, exactly like how Dr Gore said!

Raaga's Rangapravesam preparation is underway and she is on the final stretch, with less than a month to go before the event! She started documenting her journey and is counting down for the big day with daily posts. Do visit her blog and share your words of encouragement- it means a lot to her and me!

In other news, I've made the difficult decision to quit Qorvo as of June 14th and move back to Intel, to better suit my ongoing health needs and career aspirations. I got to enjoy a lot of warmth and camaraderie in the short time I was at Qorvo and am sad to end it all so abruptly. On the bright side, it is exciting to actually go to work, with coworkers that are my BFFs for two decades, after four months of working on myself!

I came home post surgery a day before Mother's day, and, by Father's day eve, I am my normal self again! Thanks for cheering me on and keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. I do believe that it's the collective power of positivity that gave me the strength to bounce back. Eternally grateful to the almighty, family and friendships!

Being able to chase this cute crazy again feels good!

I'd gladly trade tumor with permanently bald spots any day!

Team Family!

Seeking all your blessings and good vibes with this girl's big day on July 14th!
