05/14/2024 t+2 Weeks!

Two weeks ago today will forever be etched into my memory as the day that launched my metamorphosis.

Before April 30th, 2024, I was fiercely independent, extremely self-confident, and borderline arrogant. Whether drafting important work emails, hosting  Telugu school events, or loading the dishwasher at home, I had OCD for how things are done.  I rarely asked anyone for help.

In the past two weeks, three friends from three different states have taken turns to help me and my family. Our dinners have come from a different family every night. My girls have been driven to classes by various friends. My dishwasher has been loaded by people other than me. I have needed help drying my hair, walking to the bathroom, and even wearing socks.

These past two weeks have taught me patience and gratefulness, and opened my eyes to just how powerless one could get in the hands of destiny. I am feeling incredibly fortunate to have so many kind people in our lives that always have our backs. Our fridge is filled with delicious food. Our counters are filled with reusable bags and Tupperware that don't belong to us. Our whatsapp chats are filled with people offering their help. Our hearts are filled with gratitude.

I walked Taara to school today. I was able to pack some avocado protein rolls for Bhaskar's lunch. I was able to get out for a nice walk at the Rose garden and my favorite Pittock mansion with a friend. I might even have enough juice left to walk Taara home later this afternoon. All this, two weeks after my brain was sliced open and stitched back, 24hours after the stitches came off, and 8hours after I struggled to sleep because of pain. If this is not the combined work of the divine blessings, positive vibes from friends and family, and some dumb luck, I don't know what is.

Thank you, almighty!

Thank you, friends and family!

Thank you, Oregon lottery! I might not be one of the three folks that recently split a billion, but I sure feel like a winner!

Dropped this cutie off at school today, a first in two weeks

Got out to Rose garden with Sruthi, who left her two little boys and her birthday boy husband in Chicago and came to help me and my family get through these tough days

Pittock mansion hike is one of my absolute favorites around here. It made my soul happy to be able to get out there again!

Roses there are still cooking but the Rhododendrons are in full bloom
