03/08/2024: My Little Woman's Day!
Updated 03/08/24- Women’s day edition!
I could not sleep much last night either, but that is only because Taara could not wait to start her 6th birthday! She kept waking me up every hour- “is it time for my birthday yet?”, “Can I open my presents yet?”. Ah, the pleasures of being a newly minted 6 year old and overflowing with birthday energy!
A few updates from my end:
ENT confirmed based on the recent CT scan report that my sinuses are a little bit better than before, but still quite infected. That is the plain English for “Right frontoethmoidal and sphenoethmoidal sinusitis, S shaped nasal septal deviation, and hypertrophied adenoid tonsillar tissue in the dorsal nasopharynx”, :). I am asked to continue with the antibiotics for one more week and check back for further direction if current symptoms (headaches, heaviness in the eyelids, mild nausea) persist.
Angiogram is scheduled for April 11th, 10am. Looks like that is the earliest possible date, thanks to the ongoing shortage of anesthesiologists around here. A follow up from that is scheduled for April 18th, which is when we’d know the course of action for the surgery.
Surgery is not approved by insurance yet. Looks like some mishap with the paperwork. We should know more next week.
Given that the angiogram slipped by almost a month, it is looking increasingly unlikely that I will complete the surgery and recovery well in time for Raaga’s Rangapravesam on July 14th. I have asked the neurosurgeon’s opinion on whether the surgery could wait until after July 14th, when I would also have my parents and extended family here to support. The neuro contact from India advised against waiting for that long, as he thought my tumor is large enough that waiting for more than a month or two might not be in my best interest. Let’s see what the local care team says in response to this. If this thing could wait till July, nothing like it! If their advice is to go ahead with surgery ASAP, then I would need to request an April date for surgery and hope that it gets accommodated. Either way, I am looking forward to Raaga’s big day- her teacher and she are working so hard for it! The least I can do is to be present there, with or without the tumor in tow! We are going to need a lot of help from all our dear friends in making it a memorable day for Raaga!
I might return to work once my sinusitis is under control, hopefully at the end of next week. Fingers crossed!
